US and Japan sign space cooperation agreement
Posted: Sat, Jan 21, 2023, 11:16 AM ET (1616 GMT) The United States and Japan signed a agreement establishing a framework for future cooperation in space exploration. At a ceremony Jan. 13 at NASA Headquarters attended by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and other top officials, the countries signed a "framework agreement" intended to enhance cooperation between the two countries on a wide range of space topics. It comes on the heels of an agreement in November finalizing Japan's role in the lunar Gateway and participation on the International Space Station through 2030. Officials did not announce any additional new cooperative projects at the event, but NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said he will visit Japan next month.
