Posted: Sat, Dec 2, 2023, 9:40 AM ET (1440 GMT)
Two Canadian astronauts have received new mission assignments. At an event Nov. 20, the Canadian Space Agency said that Joshua Kutryk will go to the International Space Station in 2025 as part of the Starliner-1 commercial crew mission. Jenni Gibbons will serve as the backup to another Canadian astronaut, Jeremy Hansen, who was assigned earlier this year to the Artemis 2 mission around the moon. Kutryk will be the first Canadian astronaut to go on a long-duration mission since David Saint-Jacques in 2018-19.
