Posted: Sat, Jun 3, 2023, 11:04 AM ET (1504 GMT)
SpaceX launched an Arabsat communications satellite May 27. A Falcon 9 lifted off from Cape Canaveral at 12:30 am EDT (0430 GMT) and deployed the Badr-8 satellite 37 minutes later. The Airbus-built satellite will operate at 26 degrees east in GEO, replacing the aging Badr-6 satellite there. Badr-8 is designed to replace and expand Arabsat's C-band and Ku-band capacity across Europe, Middle East, Africa and central Asia over its 15-year design life.
