Astronauts conduct spacewalk to prepare for solar array installation
Posted: Sat, Jan 28, 2023, 9:58 AM ET (1458 GMT) Two astronauts spent more than seven hours outside the International Space Station Jan. 20 to continue work upgrading the station's solar arrays. NASA's Nicole Mann and JAXA's Koichi Wakata completed the installation of a mounting bracket for one new solar array that started on a previous spacewalk, then started attaching another. They were not able to complete the installation of the second because of issues with one strut, deferring that work to a future spacewalk. The mounting brackets will host the final pair of iROSA roll-out solar arrays being installed on the station that will be delivered on a future cargo mission.
