First Vulcan launch slips to 2023
Posted: Sat, Oct 15, 2022, 11:15 AM ET (1515 GMT)
Vulcan launch vehicle illustration (ULA) United Launch Alliance confirmed Monday that the first launch of its Vulcan Centaur rocket will slip to next year. ULA CEO Tory Bruno said Astrobotic, the customer for the inaugural Vulcan mission, asked that the launch be delayed to the first quarter of 2023 to give it time to complete its Peregrine lunar lander. Bruno added that even if Astrobotic had stayed on schedule, delays in the delivery of the BE-4 engines for the rocket "would put a lot of pressure" on a December launch that had been planned.
