Posted: Sun, Aug 21, 2022, 11:17 AM ET (1517 GMT) With the Space Launch System now at the pad, launch preparations for the Artemis 1 mission are entering their final phases. The SLS and Orion spacecract arrived at Launch Complex 39B Wednesday morning after rolling out from the Vehicle Assembly Building the night before. The vehicle will now go through preparations similar to those for a series of countdown rehearsals in the spring, although with some tweaks in the procedures based on lessons learned from those earlier tests. The Artemis 1 launch remains scheduled for as soon as Aug. 29, with backup launch opportunities Sept. 2 and 5.
