Posted: Wed, Jul 6, 2022, 7:49 PM ET (2349 GMT) Virgin Orbit launched seven payloads on its latest LauncherOne mission early Saturday. The LauncherOne rocket was released from its Boeing 747 carrier aircraft at 2:53 am EDT (0653 GMT) over the Pacific Ocean west of San Diego and deployed its payloads into low Earth orbit about 55 minutes later. The seven payloads were arranged by the Space Test Program and include both NASA and Defense Department cubesats, primarily for science and technology demonstration. The launch was the second this year for Virgin Orbit, whose next launch, no earlier than September, will be the first from the United Kingdom.
