SpaceX launches Starlink satellites in record-setting mission
Posted: Sat, Mar 26, 2022, 11:02 AM ET (1502 GMT) SpaceX set reuse and payload mass records with its latest Starlink launch. A Falcon 9 lifted off from Cape Canaveral at 12:42 am EDT (0442 GMT) March 19 and deployed 53 Starlink satellites about an hour later. The launch used a booster making its 12th flight, a company record. The launch also set a record for the mass of payload placed into orbit by the Falcon 9 at 16.25 metric tons. Meanwhile, two upcoming SpaceX launches of Crew Dragon spacecraft, the Ax-1 mission for Axiom Space and Crew-4 for NASA, have slipped by several days to provide additional time for spacecraft processing and reviews between the two missions.
