ESA suspends cooperation with Russia on ExoMars

ESA formally stopped plans to launch its ExoMars mission with the Russians in September. The agency announced Thursday it had suspended cooperation with Roscosmos on the mission, ruling out a launch in September on a Proton rocket to comply with European sanctions in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. ESA will now examine alternative options for launching the rover mission, including renewed cooperation with NASA. The earliest ExoMars could now launch in 2026, ESA leadership said.
