E-Space raises $50 million for satellite megaconstellation
Posted: Sun, Feb 13, 2022, 10:42 AM ET (1542 GMT) E-Space, a startup founded by Greg Wyler, raised $50 million to start work on a satellite megaconstellation. The company will use the funding for the launch of two sets of test satellites this year. In an interview, Wyler did not say how many satellites E-Space plans to deploy this year or how they will get to space, but said they would be built in-house. E-Space is linked to a filing by Rwanda last year for a constellation of more than 300,000 satellites, and the company said it has "filings in hand for potentially over one hundred thousand secure communication satellites." Early-stage investor Prime Movers Lab led E-Space's seed round, which Wyler said will support the company through early to mid-2023. Wyler also founded megaconstellation startup OneWeb and the O3b Networks satellite operator now owned by SES.
