Weather postpones Ariane launch
Posted: Fri, Mar 21, 2014, 6:56 AM ET (1056 GMT)
The Ariane 5 launch of two communications satellites scheduled for Friday has been postponed 24 hours because of poor weather. The Ariane 5 was scheduled to lift off late Friday from Kourou, French Guiana, and place the Astra 5B and Amazonas 4A satellites into orbit. However, late Thursday Arianespace reported that windy conditions prevented engineers from moving the launch vehicle from its final assembly building to the launch pad, delaying the launch 24 hours. The launch is now scheduled to 6:04 pm EDT (2204 GMT) Saturday, at the beginning of a 58-minute launch window.
