Atlantis in KSC Visitor Center (J. Foust) A new building hosting the retired Space Shuttle Atlantis formally opened to the public on Saturday at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. A ceremony Saturday morning, featuring a number of astronauts who flew on Atlantis, opened the building. The $100-million complex features the shuttle oriented at a 43.21-degree angle, with its payload bay doors open, to make it appear as though it is flying in space. The KSC Visitor Complex was awarded Atlantis by NASA in 2011, and took possession of the orbiter last November.
