Eutelsat changes launchers for upcoming mission
Posted: Tue, Sep 8, 2009, 1:38 PM ET (1738 GMT)
European communications satellite operator Eutelsat announced Monday that it was switching the launch of its W7 spacecraft from Sea Launch to ILS. Eutelsat said that it now planned to launch the GEO communications satellite on a Proton rocket in mid-November. Eutelsat has previously planned to launch the spacecraft this fall on a Zenit-3SL, but the company said that they switched after Sea Launch confirmed "their unavailability to orbit W7 within the agreed timeframe." Eutelsat said that it would use that Sea Launch contract for an unspecified future spacecraft.
