NASA selects new shuttle program manager

NASA NASA announced late Friday that it had reassigned the manager of the space shuttle program to a new position overseeing strategic partnerships for the space agency. Wayne Hale, who became shuttle program manager in September 2005, will now be the agency's deputy associate administrator for strategic partnerships, based at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. The new position, according to NASA, will oversee effects to develop "cooperative partnerships" between the public and private sectors to better help the agency achieve its goals. Hale will be replaced as shuttle program manager by his deputy, John Shannon.
