EchoStar orders Lockheed Martin satellite

Lockheed Martin A2100 satellite illustration EchoStar announced Wednesday that it has ordered a new satellite from Lockheed Martin for launch in 2005. EchoStar 10 will be based on Lockheed's A2100 satellite bus, and is scheduled for launch on an unspecified vehicle in the third quarter of 2005. The satellite will be equipped with Ku-band transponders and provide direct-to-home television services at 110 degrees west longitude, backing up other EchoStar satellites in the vicinity. The order is the fourth commercial satellite order for Lockheed Martin this year, and the sixth time EchoStar has ordered a satellite from the company
