Delta 2 launch file photo (Boeing) The Boeing Company announced late Friday that it would shift manufacturing work on the Delta family of boosters currently done in a Colorado facility to another facility in Alabama. The company said that it plans to consolidate all manufacturing of the Delta 2 and 4 boosters at its Decatur, Alabama plant that was built for Delta 4 assembly and testing. The consolidation, which will shift work currently done at a separate plant in Pueblo, Colorado, will start in mid-2003 and take a year to complete. Boeing officials said the move will improve efficiency in the manufacturing process and save money. About 250 people work at the Pueblo facility, with 160 of those jobs to be transferred to Decatur. Boeing said it will offer some Pueblo employees the opportunity to transfer to Decatur, and offer job placement services for the others. A small group will remain in Pueblo through 2007 to support storage of Delta 2 boosters for the Air Force.
