President Trump signs EO for Space Academy (NASA/J. Kraus) President Donald Trump announced Friday a proposal to create a federal academy to train the space workforce. Trump signed an executive order establishing a commission to study the U.S. Space Academy, a proposed NASA-led institution. Trump compared the proposed academy to military service academies that would "train an entire generation of skilled service members, engineers and civil operators" whose graduates might then work for NASA, the Space Force, or other agencies. The commission, chaired by the NASA administrator, is ordered to complete a report on the academy in 120 days. One member of Congress, though, noted that the administration could not create the space academy on its own and raised questions about how it would be funded.
