China launches space environment satellite
Posted: Sat, May 18, 2024, 9:31 AM ET (1331 GMT) China launched a space environment satellite May 11. A Long March 4C satellite lifted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center at 7:43 pm EDT (2243 GMT) and placed the Shiyan-23 satellite into orbit. The satellite will be used for space environment monitoring, Chinese media said, but did not provide any additional details about its mission.
