China launched another reconnaissance mission Dec. 9. A Long March 2D lifted off from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center at 8:58 pm EST (0158 GMT Dec. 10) and placed a Yaogan-39 payload into orbit. The launch was the 500th in the Long March series of rockets.
