An Indian rocket launched an Earth science satellite and eight secondary payloads early Nov. 26. The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 1:26 am EST (0626 GMT) and placed its primary payload, the EOS-06 satellite, into a sun-synchronous orbit 17 minutes later. EOS-06 is the third-generation Earth observation satellite in India's Oceansat series for monitoring oceans, and includes Indian and French instruments. The rocket deployed eight nanosatellite secondary payloads, ranging from a satellite jointly developed by India and Bhutan to four satellites for internet-of-things provider Astrocast.
