Posted: Sun, Mar 27, 2022, 8:47 AM ET (1247 GMT)
Starship lunar lander (SpaceX) NASA announced Wednesday its plans to support development of a second Artemis lunar lander. NASA said it would release a draft RFP later this month for the Sustaining Lunar Development project, which will fund work on a second lander alongside SpaceX's Starship. That lander will be designed with improved performance to support later missions in the sustainable phase of the Artemis program. SpaceX's existing Human Landing Services award will be modified to ensure Starship can also meet those requirements. NASA did not disclose budget details about the new effort, citing the upcoming release of the fiscal year 2023 budget proposal next week.
