China launched a pair of small satellites to aid in gravitational wave studies. A Long March 11 rocket lifted off from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center at 5:14 p.m. Eastern Wednesday and placed the two Gravitational Wave High-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM) satellites into orbit. The GECAM spacecraft will look for high-energy signatures of gravitational wave events, as well as gamma-ray bursts and other astronomical phenomena.
