NASA selects commercial crew manager as next head of human spaceflight programs
Posted: Tue, Jun 16, 2020, 12:21 PM ET (1621 GMT)
NASA has selected the longtime manager of its commercial crew program as the next head of its overall human spaceflight efforts. NASA announced Friday that Kathy Lueders is the new associate administrator for human exploration and operations, effective immediately. She had been manager of the commercial crew program since 2014, after previously working on the shuttle and space station programs, including support for commercial cargo efforts. The space industry widely hailed the choice of Lueders to lead NASA's Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate, which includes the space station, commercial crew and exploration programs. Ken Bowersox, who had been acting associate administrator since the abrupt resignation of Doug Loverro last month, returns to his position as deputy associate administrator.
