Rocket Lab will attempt to reuse Electron first stage
Posted: Mon, Aug 12, 2019, 3:56 PM ET (1956 GMT)
Electron first stage reentry (Rocket Lab) Rocket Lab announced Tuesday that it will attempt to recover and reuse the first stage of its Electron rocket. The company has already started work to instrument and modify Electron first stages so that they can survive reentry at hypersonic speeds, with the ultimate goal of having stages caught in midair by a helicopter so that they can be easily refurbished and launched again. Reusing the first stage will allow Rocket Lab to increase its launch rate without having to build more rockets.
