NASA reassigns leadership of exploration programs
Posted: Sun, Jul 14, 2019, 4:16 PM ET (2016 GMT)
NASA shook up the leadership of its exploration program Wednesday evening, reassigning two top officials. In a memo, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said that Bill Gerstenmaier, associate administrator for human exploration and operations, and Bill Hill, deputy associate administrator for exploration systems development, had been reassigned to "special advisor" positions. Ken Bowersox, Gerstenmaier's deputy, was named to replace Gerstenmaier on an acting basis. Bridenstine's memo didn't explain why he removed Gerstenmaier and Hill from their posts other than the changes were part of efforts to return humans to the moon by 2024.
