A Democratic senator has come out in opposition to the nomination of Jim Bridenstine to be NASA administrator. In a letter Thursday, Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, said Bridenstine was an "extremely concerning choice" to lead the agency, citing his views on climate change and a range of social issues. The letter, addressed to the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Commerce Committee, came a day after the committee announced it scheduled a November 1 confirmation hearing for Bridenstine.
