SES awarded a contract to Boeing Monday to build seven satellites for O3b's next-generation system. The O3b mPOWER system will provide "multiple terabits" of connectivity globally through a new network of satellites in medium Earth orbit, as well as an improved ground infrastructure. Boeing will build the seven satellites for O3b mPOWER, scheduled for launch in 2021. The satellites will use a new platform based on the existing Boeing 702 bus.
