President signs order reestablishing the National Space Council
Posted: Sun, Jul 2, 2017, 9:49 AM ET (1349 GMT) President Donald Trump signed a long-awaited executive order June 30 formally reestablishing the National Space Council. The order, which administration officials said for months would soon be signed, creates the council, which will feature representatives of various cabinet officees and other agencies, including NASA. The council will provide policy advice for the president on various space issues, and will be chaired by the vice president. The administration offered no other details about the council, including who will serve as executive secretary, its day-to-day head, or when it will begin to meet. The council last operated in the administration of President George H.W. Bush.
