NASA facing cuts in 2018 budget proposal
Posted: Sun, May 21, 2017, 10:03 AM ET (1403 GMT)
NASA More than $560 million in budget cuts will be spread across many NASA programs, from science to human spaceflight, when the White House releases its complete fiscal year 2018 budget proposal. That proposal is due to be released May 23, but a leaked version of the overall federal budget proposal showed cuts across major NASA accounts, including science, exploration, and space operations. NASA received more than $16.6 billion in the 2017 omnibus spending bill, but the proposal offers just $19.1 billion for the agency in 2018. That proposal will be the starting point for Congressional appropriations bills in the coming months.
