Russia launches military satellite

Soyuz-2 launch of EKS satellite (TASS) Russia launched a missile early warning satellite Tuesday morning. The Soyuz-2 rocket lifted off from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northern Russia at 1:34 am EST (0634 GMT) carrying what Russian officials described only as a military satellite. Outside sources identified the satellite as an EKS, or Tundra, missile early warning satellite.
