China launches mapping satellite

Long March 2D launch of Tianhui-1C (Xinhua) A Long March rocket successfully launched a mapping satellite Monday. The Long March 2D rocket lifted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center at 3:10 am EDT (0710 GMT, 3:10 pm Beijing time) and placed the Tianhui-1C satellite into orbit. The spacecraft is the third in a series of satellites that produces medium-resolution images for mapping applications.
