Blue Origin announces plans to build and launch rockets in Florida

Bezos unveils Blue Origin orbital vehicle (Blue Origin) Blue Origin, the commercial space company established by Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos, announced this week it will establish a factory and launch site at Cape Canaveral, Florida. The company said it will build a factory near the Kennedy Space Center to manufacture an orbital launch vehicle it is developing, which will launch from Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral, a former Atlas launch pad. Bezos said the company plans the first launches of the vehicle to take place by the end of the decade. The company is spending more than $200 million to establish those facilities, and will create 330 jobs, according to state officials.
