NASA names new space station program manager
Posted: Sat, Aug 8, 2015, 6:58 PM ET (2258 GMT) The longtime NASA manager of the International Space Station manager is leaving the agency, NASA announced this week. Michael Suffredini, who had been ISS program manager since 2005, is leaving NASA to take a job in private industry. He oversaw the program through its final assembly stages and through agency efforts to increase commercial and other research uses of the station, as well as use of commercial cargo and crew vehicles. Kirk Shireman, former ISS deputy program manager and Johnson Space Center deputy director, will succeed Suffredini as ISS manager.
