Weather delays Atlas launch
Posted: Fri, Dec 12, 2014, 1:30 PM ET (1830 GMT)
Poor weather delayed a Thursday evening launch of a classified satellite on an Atlas 5 rocket from California. The Atlas 5 541 was scheduled to launch Thursday evening from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California and place into orbit a payload for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) on a mission designated NROL-35. Poor weather at the launch site because of a coastal storm forced launch officials to postpone the launch several hours in advance. The launch is now scheduled for Friday at 7:13 pm PST (10:13 pm EST Friday, 0313 GMT Saturday). Weather forecasts predict a 40-percent chance of acceptable weather at launch time.
