Cape range problem delays SpaceX launch
Posted: Fri, Mar 28, 2014, 7:07 AM ET (1107 GMT) A problem with a radar at Cape Canaveral that delayed the launch of a classified satellite earlier this week will also delay Sunday night's scheduled launch of a SpaceX commercial cargo mission to the International Space Station. NASA and SpaceX said Thursday that the launch of the Dragon cargo spacecraft to the ISS, which had been scheduled for Sunday night, will be postponed until some time in April because of problems with a tracking radar used to support launches from Cape Canaveral. No new launch date has been announced for that mission. The same radar problem postponed the launch of a National Reconnaissance Office satellite on an Atlas 5 earlier this week; that launch is now planned for no earlier that April 10. Air Force officials said Thursday that repairs to the radar, disabled by an electrical short, could take up to three weeks, but that the Air Force is looking at ways to shorten that time.
