Posted: Thu, Dec 19, 2013, 8:03 AM ET (1303 GMT)
Commercial remote sensing satellite company Planet Labs announced Wednesday that it has raised $52 million in new investment. The company, which has developed a line of small Earth imaging satellites, previously raised $13 million. The company launched four of its Dove satellites earlier this year, and its first constellation of such spacecraft will launch next month as part of the payload of a Cygnus cargo mission to the International Space Station. The company plans to use the new funding to support the processing and analysis of images that the upcoming constellation of satellites will provide.
