Proton launch postponed a day
Posted: Sun, Oct 20, 2013, 1:35 PM ET (1735 GMT)
The launch of a radio broadcasting satellite on a Proton rocket has been postponed a day because of a problem with a satellite ground station. The Proton M rocket was scheduled to lift off late Sunday from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, carrying the Sirius FM-6 satellite for Sirius XM. However, International Launch Services (ILS) said Sunday morning that the launch had been postponed at least 24 hours because of a problem with the network of ground stations used to communicate with the satellite during launch and early orbital operations. ILS noted there are no problems with the launch vehicle or the satellite themselves. The launch is now tentatively planned for 2:12 pm EDT (1812 GMT) Monday.
