Hadfield becomes first Canadian commander of ISS

Hadfield change of command ceremony (NASA) Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield took over as commander of the International Space Station on Thursday, becoming the first Canadian to be in charge of the station. Hadfield became commander of the station in a brief ceremony on Thursday, succeeding NASA astronaut Kevin Ford, who will return to Earth later this week with two Russian cosmonauts. Hadfield, who has been on the station since December, will be commander of Expedition 35 until he departs in mid-May.
