GOES-M illustration (NASA) A NOAA weather satellite that provided images and other data for the eastern US has malfunctions, forcing NOAA to put an on-orbit spare into service. NOAA put an on-orbit spare, GOES-14, into service at least until the problem with GOES-13 is corrected.
