Astronaut Janice Voss passes away

Voss, Janice (NASA) A five-time shuttle flyer did of cancer this week, NASA announced Tuesday. Janice Voss died Monday at the age of 55 in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she was receiving treatment for breast cancer. A graduate of Purdue University, Voss joined the NASA astronaut corps in 1990 and flew on five shuttle missions between 1993 and 2000, making her one of only six women to fly in space at least five times. Voss later worked as the science director for NASA's Kepler mission and the payloads lead for the Astronaut Office Station Branch.
