New rocket facility opens at Wallops

Taurus 2 illustration (OSC) A new building designed to support upcoming launches of medium-class launch vehicles opened this week at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. The Horizontal Integration Facility (HIF), formally dedicated on Tuesday, will be used to prepare Taurus 2 rockets developed by Orbital Sciences Corporation, which will then be rolled out and erected on the pad at Wallops for launch. Those launches, scheduled to begin later this year, will be used to launch Cygnus cargo spacecraft to the International Space Station.
