The Rockot lifted off from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northern Russia at 11:30 pm EDT Tuesday (0330 GMT, 7:30 am Moscow time Wednesday) and placed into orbit the Kosmos 2467 and 2468 military satellites and a Gonets-M communications satellite. The Gonets-M will be part of a system used for store-and-forward messaging; the mission of the Kosmos satellites was not disclosed but are believed to be used for a similar military communications system.
