The European Space Agency (ESA) announced Thursday that its current director-general, Jean-Jacques Dordain, will serve another term as leader of the space agency. Dordain is about a year from the end of his second four-year term as director-general, and the ESA Council chose him Thursday to serve another term, keeping him in the post to June 2015. Dordain's reelection appeared certain a few weeks ago when the German government, who had previously been expected to select a German candidate for the post, instead endorsed Dordain. ESA also announced that David Williams, the acting head of the new UK Space Agency, will chair the ESA Council for a year starting July 1.
