South Korea plans this week to make its second attempt to launch a satellite with its own launch vehicle. The KSLV-1, also known as Naro-1, is scheduled to launch as early as Wednesday to place a technology demonstration satellite, STSAT 2B, into orbit. The KSLV-1 first launched last year, but its payload fairing failed to separate properly, preventing it from achieving orbit. The launch vehicle is based in part on Russian technology, including a Russian first-stage engine.
