Spacewalkers install ammonia tank on ISS
Posted: Sun, Apr 11, 2010, 3:12 PM ET (1912 GMT)
STS-131: EVA #2 (NASA) Two spacewalkers struggled with a bolt but were eventually able to install a new ammonia tank on the exterior of the International Space Station early Sunday. Rick Mastracchio and Clayton Anderson spent nearly 7 hours and 26 minutes outside the station on an EVA that ended at 8:56 am EDT (1256 GMT) Sunday. The two installed a new ammonia tank after moving a spent tank to a temporary position on the station. The two ran into problems with one of the four bolts used to hold the tank into place but were eventually able to secure the new tank into place. Because of the additional time spent on the recalcitrant bolt the spacewalkers put off the connection of fluid lines to the new tank until a Tuesday spacewalk. The two also performed several other minor tasks during the EVA.
