Ariane launch postponed
Posted: Wed, Dec 9, 2009, 9:38 PM ET (0238 GMT)
The launch of a French military satellite on an Ariane 5 was scrubbed Wednesday because of a technical problem with the rocket. The Ariane 5GS rocket was scheduled to launch midday Wednesday to place the Helios 2B reconnaissance satellite into orbit for the French military. However, the launch was scrubbed when technicians discovered a leak in a helium pressurization system. A valve thought to be at fault will be replaced, and the launch will likely be rescheduled for next week.
