Reports: next Falcon 1 launch delayed
Posted: Sat, Apr 18, 2009, 9:25 AM ET (1325 GMT) The launch of a Malaysian satellite on a Falcon 1 rocket has been delayed several weeks because of a problem with the launch vehicle, Malaysian media reported Friday. The Falcon 1 was scheduled to launch the RazakSAT spacecraft on April 21 from Omelek Island in Kwajalein Atoll. However, according to Malaysian media reports, the launch has been delayed because of unspecified damage to the rocket that will take "at least six weeks" to repair. One report indicated there was "vibration at unsafe level[s]" on the vehicle, but did not offer additional details. There has been no announcement of a delay by SpaceX, and company officials did not respond to a request for comment on the reports on Friday. The launch will be the first for the Falcon 1 since its first completely-successful launch last September.
