Technology expert and investor Esther Dyson will train as the backup to space tourist Charles Simonyi for his repeat flight to the ISS, Space Adventures announced this week. Dyson will pay $3 million to be the backup to Simonyi and will take his pace if he is unable to fly on the spring 2009 Soyuz mission to the ISS. Dyson, a long-time technology newsletter editor and conference organizer, is an investor in a number of companies, including Space Adventures.
