Kibo logistics module, arm checked out

STS-124: Kibo robotic arm (NASA) Space station and space shuttle astronauts installed a logistics module for the Japanese lab module Kibo and checked out the new module's robotic arm in advance of the STS-124 mission's final EVA on Sunday. On Saturday astronauts checked out the 10-meter robotic arm on the Kibo module, putting it successfully through a limited set of tests. Those tests came a day after the Kibo logistics module was installed on its permanent location on top of Kibo. The module had been carried to the station on the previous shuttle mission and temporary attached to the top of the Harmony docking node. Astronauts Mike Fossum and Ron Garan will perform the third and final EVA of the STS-124 mission on Sunday, performing some maintenance on various parts of the station.
