STS-124: EVA #2 (NASA) A pair of spacewalking astronauts spent over seven hours outside the International Space Station on Thursday, working on the exterior of the station's newest module as well as inspect a solar array joint. Mike Fossum and Ron Garan spent seven hours and 11 minutes outside the station in an EVA that ended at 6:15 pm EDT (2215 GMT) Thursday, about a half-hour longer than planned. The two spent most of their time outfitting the Japanese lab module Kibo, installing cameras and removing covers. The two prepared some get-ahead tasks for their final EVA of the STS-124 mission on Sunday and also inspected the port Solar Alpha Rotary Joint, which, unlike its starboard counterpart, has been performing normally. The EVA set the stage for moving a separate equipment module into its final place on Kibo on Friday.
